अनुदिनी ६६ - पेन्शन.. पेन्शन / Blog 66 – Pension . . Pension

“काय साहेब बऱ्याच महिन्यांनी येणं केलं?"  परेशची तंद्री भंगली हातातली चहाची बशी समोरच्या टेबलावर ठेवत त्याने नजर वर केली,तर सरपंच बाळासाहेब समोर उभे.

"या बाळासाहेब या बसा". इति परेश.

“अहो आमच्याकडे निवांतपणा हा क्षणभर सुद्धा राहिलेला नाही. एखादा क्षण जरी मिळाला की लगेच खिशातल्या मोबाईल कडे हात जातो.” खिशातून सिगरेट काढत परेशने हसत हसत  बाळासाहेबांसमोर हात धरला. 

“बाकी आपलं गाव एकदम आहे तसंच आहे!”

 “अहो, नाही राव! बराच बदल झालाय! पण विशेष म्हणजे गावातले व्यवहार गावातल्याच आवेशात होतात, त्यात शहरीपणा शिरला नाही. म्हणजे गावातल्या बायकांना नदीवर जाऊन कपडे धुवायला आवडतं म्हणून खास घाट बांधला. तुमचा तो कुठला बँड कम्प्युटरला जोडावा लागतो तो?”  बाळासाहेबांनी सुपारीच खांड तोंडात टाकता टाकता विचारणा केली. 

“हा! ब्रॉडबँड कनेक्शन म्हणताय?” 

“बरोबर!”  

“तर तोही ग्रामपंचायतीतर्फे मोफत उपलब्ध करून दिलाय. सर्व घरातील मसाला गावच्या चक्कीतून मोफत कांडून दिला जातो. अख्या जिल्हयात आदर्श गाव म्हणून पुरस्कार मिळालाय की राव!” सरपंचांनी हातातली चंची लेहेंग्यात टाकत माहिती पुरवली.  

बोलता, बोलता दोघं एका टुमदार, कौलारू, बैठ्या घरासमोर आले. 

“बाळासाहेब हे घर तर बरीच वर्ष बंद होता ना?”  हातातली बॅग खांद्यावर अडकवत परेशने पृच्छा केली. 

“अहो, हे देशमुख यांचे घर! मुलासोबत हे दोघंही मुंबईत स्थायिक झाले होते. अधून मधून सुट्टीत यायचे पण दोन वर्षांपूर्वी अघटीत घडलं. कार अपघातात मुलगा आणि सून दोघंही जागीच दगावले. सोबत नातू नव्हता म्हणून बरे झाले तो वाचला.”

“मग आता?”  परेशने डोळ्यावर गॉगल चढवत विचारणा केली. 

“तो असतो कॉलेज मध्ये. तिथं हॉस्टेलवर राहतो. अधून मधून आजी आजोबांना भेटायला येतो.” सरपंचांनी माहिती पुरवली.

समोरच्या व्हरांड्यात झोपाळ्यावर पेपर वाचत बसलेले, साधारण ऐंशीच्या आसपास असलेले देशमुख दिसत होते आणि अंगणातील तुळशीला पाणी घालणाऱ्या, केसांमध्ये चंदेरी छटा चमकणाऱ्या सौ. देशमुख. 

“हे दोघंही इकडलेच म्हणजे याच गावातले. देशमुख साहेबांना त्यांच्या भावंडांच्या जबाबदारीमुळे शहरात स्थायिक व्हावे लागले. उमेदीची सगळी वर्षे भावंडांचे शिक्षण, लग्न-कार्य हे करण्यातच गेली. एकच मुलगा होता तो लवकरच शहरात स्थिरावला. अधून मधून या घरात त्यांचे येणे जाणे होत असे, पण आता तो गेल्यावर देशमुख पती-पत्नीनं गावातच स्थिरस्थावर व्हायचं ठरवलं.” सुस्कारा टाकत सरपंच चावडीकडे गेले.

मंडळी, तसं बघाल! तर ह्या गोष्टीत वेगळं असं काही आपल्याला जाणवलं नसेल. 

काय होतं वेगळेपण?  तर देशमुखांना पेन्शनची सोय करून गेला होता त्याचा मुलगा.

काय पटत नाही ना?

म्हणजे मुलगा वडिलांना पेन्शनची सोय कसा काय करू शकतो? 

असा विचार मनात डोकावला असेल ना?

हो! तर ' NPS' योजनेत उपलब्ध पर्यायात असाही एक पर्याय आहे,ज्यात प्राथमिक पेन्शन धारक त्याच्या पश्चात त्याची पेन्शन क्रमाने त्याच्या पत्नीला, तिच्या पश्चात त्याच्या आईला आणि नंतर वडिलांना आणि सरतेशेवटी मुद्दल वारसाला मिळते.

तर मंडळी,आपल्या गुंतवणुकीत वर्षिकीला वेळीच समाविष्ट करा. ती निवृत्ती पश्चात करावी अशा विचारात राहू नका.

बाकी काही अडलंच तर जरूर कळवा.

“Hello Sir, you have come after a very long time?” Paresh came to his senses and as he kept the saucer on the table, he looked up to see “Sarpanch” Balasaheb standing there.

 

Paresh: “Please come Balasaheb, please sit.”

“We do not get a moment of leisure. If, by chance, I get it, then my hands automatically go to fetch the mobile from the pocket.”

Paresh brought out the cigarettes from his pocket and held it before Balasaheb, laughing.

 

“But our village is as it was.”

​“No, sir, a lot of changes have come about, but mainly, the daily chores within the village continue to be the same old way, and they have no whiff of urbanization. Because the ladies like to wash the clothes at the riverbank, we built a pier there for their convenience. And what type of band is required for connecting to a computer?” Balasaheb queried as he popped a piece of beetle nut in his mouth.

 

“Yes, you mean broadband connection?”

 

“Exactly!”

“That too we have arranged and provided free of cost through the ​'Grampanchyat​.' 

All the household pulverize their masala free of cost at the village’s mill. 

We have got the award of ​'Ideal village​' in the entire district, informed sarpanch as he put his beetle bag in the pocket.

 

As they strolled, they reached a house with a tiled roof.

 

“Balasaheb, this house appears to be vacant for quite a few years, isn’t it?” asked Paresh.

 

“This house belongs to Deshmukh. Both settled in Mumbai with their son. 

They used to come sometimes during the holidays, but two years ago, an untoward incident occurred, 

and their son and daughter-in-law both got killed in an accident. Luckily, the grandson was not with them, so he survived.”

“So now?” asked Paresh, wearing his goggles. 

​"He studies in college and stays in the hostel. He visits his grandparents periodically.” ​ Informed sarpanch.

Mr. Deshmukh was seen sitting on the verandah, and Mrs. Deshmukh was watering the basil plant in the courtyard.

 

“They both are from this village itself. Mr. Deshmukh had to settle in the city due to the responsibility of his siblings. He spent his youth educating and marrying his siblings. He had only one son, and he settled in the city. They used to visit this house at leisure, but after the death of their son and daughter-in-law, they have decided to come back and settle here.” Sighed Sarpanch and went his way.

 

Friends, you may not have observed anything different here.

What was that difference? Any guess? Mr. Deshmukh’s son had provisioned for his father’s pension.

Yes! Friends, the NPS scheme offers many options out of which, one option offers pension to the primary person, then serially to his/her spouse, after the spouse to the mother and afterwards father & in the end, the capital shall be given to the heir.
